Tan Care

Days Before:

• Well hydrated skin tans most evenly
• Drink plenty of water
• Apply moisturizers liberally
• Waxing or other skin services should be done 48 hours prior to your spray tan

The Day Before:

• Now is a great time to exfoliate your skin with an oil free body scrub and or exfoliating mitt and shave
• Avoid using Dove soap
• Use spray tan friendly body wash that will not leave residue on your skin or change your PH level (Dove soap will do this)

The Day of your spray tan:

• Barrier-free skin tans most evenly
• To be tan ready have absolutely no products on your skin
• No lotions, oils or perfumes
• No makeup, toner or deodorant
• You can shave day of but try to use an older razor as it’s moisture strip is not as strong

What should you wear for your spray tan:

• You should undress to your comfort level
• Choose to wear something similar to or smaller than your swimsuit as you will have tan lines
• Women can spray tan topless but bottoms are required
• Men should wear underwear or swim bottoms

Most people who get a spray tan think that the longevity of the tan, or how long it lasts, depends on the spray tan solution or application.  The truth of the matter is that the tan application matters, but it also matters how you take care of your tan afterward that has a huge effect on how long the tan will last.

Post Spray Tan Care

• Your new tan needs time and space to dry and process. Once you feel dry change into loose clothing, preferably long bottoms and long-sleeved top to protect your spray tan and flip flops or sandals.
• PLEASE NOTE, bras and tight-fitting undergarments will affect your spray tan, it is best to have no undergarments under your loose-fitting clothing.
• Wait 12-24 hours before showering. Your first post spray tan shower should be a warm water rinse only. NO soaps, no washcloths or luffas.
• Avoid liquids (washing hands, rain etc.) before your first warm water rinse.
• Wait 12-24 hours before engaging in activity that causes perspiration.
• After your warm water rinse (12-24 hours after spray tan application) be sure to moisturize.

Tips for Longevity

• Avoid long hot showers and hot tubs.
• Avoid extended time in chlorinated pools.
• Shave only as necessary and DO NOT get waxed as this will pull off your spray tan.
• Drink plenty of water.
• Apply moisturizers liberally.
• Use mild or spray tan friendly cleansers.
• Avoid using Dove soap or any soap that says “renewing," "regenerating," "anti-aging," or "anti-acne"!
• Use alcohol free lotions and sun screens.
• Do not apply oils or exfoliate until you are ready to remove any remaining spray tan.

 

With proper care your spray tan will last 7-10 days

Remember spray tans DO NOT protect you from the sun, always wear sunscreen
